Our residents gain valuable research experience and are carefully guided from the original idea to the publishable article stage. Residents must produce one project of publishable quality over the three years. The research process should be recognized as ongoing throughout the residency. The curriculum dealing with research includes statistic and is also presented throughout the three years. The residents will be assisted by the program director, director of emergency research and faculty advisors, as well as by the Research Institute of St. Luke’s Hospital. Our hospital has an on-site, full-time, PhD research/statistician, who is intimately involved with each of our research endeavors.
Financial and staff support is available for research projects. The residency program encourages and supports the presentation of abstracts, papers and exhibits at national and regional scientific meetings. Most of our residents have had their work accepted for either regional or national presentation.
